With much fanfare, the first collection designed (rather than edited) by Maribba Webb for Banana Republic launched in stores and online last week. Since I quite liked the spin she has given to #thenewBR since being appointed Creative Director (and I am still drooling over all pieces of her Fall collection presented at New York Fashion Week), I was quite excited to check it out.
Sorry Marissa, but what a let down! I found only two colors in stores: black and white, in a number of quite classic shapes and patterns that looked all but new. Online, there is an occasional pop of color (mustard yellow and red) and a bit of olive green, but I am disappointed overall. There is nothing in the color combinations or the cut that screams #thenewBR.
